The nervous system is made up of two parts: the CENTRAL nervous system (CNS) and the PERIPHERAL nervous system (PNS).

The CranioSacral Mechanism is found within the Central Nervous System. The CNS is comprised of the brain and spinal cord, which are housed within their own protective fibrous structure, and fluid- the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CFS). CranioSacral Therapy allows us to "read" what is happening in the CNS by palpating the ebb and flow of CFS within the structures. Our own internal ocean wave!

The CNS is the boss. It contains the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic systems. Our Sympathetic system triggers FIGHT FLIGHT & FREEZE responses to keep us safe from imminent danger, process, and often STORE TRAUMA in our cells. Our Parasympathetic system triggers REST RELAX & RESTORE responses to bring the body back to homeostasis, cleanse trauma, and restore smoothly working body systems.

When treating the CranioSacral System we are able to soothe, release, unwind and re-set the tension and trauma that has been processed, stored, and often trapped within the CNS.
